The Dog Bite That Changed Everything
Thirty Years in the Making, Planned for spring 2025
Picture this (a true story): I'm 14 years old, last year of primary school, summer vacation stretches ahead like an endless playground.
Then, BAM!
A dog bite tears an ice cube-sized hole in my right quadriceps, infection sets in, and I'm bedridden for the entire summer. Most kids would wallow in self-pity, but not me.
I won’t bore you with the story of how we were chatting with a surgeon and how I was calmly watching him cut away with a scalpel my damaged tissue and throw it into the bin beside him.
Anyway, I was already a warrior at that time, and I saw an opportunity.
Fueled by an unshakeable optimism and a burning desire to create, I spent those long weeks writing an adventure novel for teenagers. Handwritten, 126 A4 pages.
I even tried to get it published by a friend's dad, who owned a publishing house! He loved it and asked me to create illustrations - which I didn’t. I don’t have much love or talent for drawing.
Sooooo…
The book never saw the light of day, but that experience was the start of a lifelong passion for storytelling and a relentless pursuit of the extraordinary.
Now, here, things get dirty.
For this passion, I've been called a "pathological optimist" and even accused of having a mental disorder!
People just can't grasp how I can see the good and opportunity in everything (and how they don’t), how I turn setbacks into springboards (and how they don’t).
